The roots of Carter-Plagmann Tax Accounting run deep in Central Oregon. In the late 1970s, Gary and Cheryl Plagmann purchased an existing tax accounting practice in Bend. For more than three decades they earned the trust of the community by providing great service at fair prices. Many local oldtimers as well as newcomers passed through the doors of the office, and while these people lived, worked, and retired, the Plagmanns counseled them, advised them, helped them through compliance with IRS.
At the beginning of 2014, their daughter Ashley and son-in-law Jason joined the business with the commitment to provide continuity for the client base as Gary and Cheryl began to eye their own retirement. The torch has been passed. Ashley and Jason are dedicated to providing the same level of service and integrity for which the business has been known. Whether it is individual, business, or fiduciary income taxes, we are here to serve you. We are proud to have many second- and third- generation clients. Jason Carter, Enrolled Agent, Oregon Licensed Tax Consultant
Jason holds an MBA from the University of Portland, as well as MA and BA degrees in English from Baylor University. He is not satisfied with simply "crunching numbers" but rather understands the importance of effective communication with clients. He strives to explain everything clearly and present the pros and cons to any potential decision. In addition to tax accounting, his professional career has included time spent in investment banking, software, and management consulting. The common thread in his work has been taking technical and analytical concepts and "translating" them in a way that is appropriate for his audience.
Ashley Carter, Licensed Tax Preparer
Ashley holds a BSN from William Jewell College. Before she moved into tax accounting, Ashley worked for more than a decade as a critical care and recovery nurse, tending to very sick patients and assisting postsurgical patients. This background applies to tax accounting far more than you might think. Ashley is able to draw from her experience to emphasize the care of clients by providing both compassion and effective results. Hospitals and medical jargon are often very intimidating and overwhelming...and so are revenue agencies and tax codes! Ashley knows how to bring a human touch to meet the unique needs of each client.
Gary holds a BBA from the University of Hawaii and after working in the airline industry, moved back to Bend in the late 1970s, where he has been a tax accountant ever since. For years he amazed people with his finger speed on a 10-key calculator and comforted them with his wise counsel. Though Gary has stepped back from full-time involvement in the business, you will still see him from time to time in the office, especially during the peak February through April season.
